As a Thelemite, I always observe the Holy Days of Thelema, and earlier today remembered to meditate on the special energy of this day; however, at 11:34 pm (PST) the remembrance hit me full force. I felt his spirit must have left close to this time all those years ago.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Elliott at Spaceland several years ago. He was sweet, self-effacing and warmly genuine. Completely guileless. After listening to his acoustic set, I picked up a napkin he left on the stage which was scrawled with fresh lyrics he’d just written. Something about pirates. Anyway, his music got me through some tough times.

Yesterday, Mr. B and I wound up turning a friend onto Elliott’s music, and I realized later on, that it was actually Elliott’s birthday.

In my head, I heard Elliott’s voice speaking to me. He said that his favorite birthday present was knowing that people were still moved enough to share his music with their friends.

For those of you who haven’t heard Elliott’s music, here are a few of my favorite songs of his: Christian Brothers, Everything Reminds Me of Her, Speed Trials, Everything Means Nothing to Me, Waltz Number 1 and 2. There are too many to list here. Everything he wrote just brims over with a heartfelt authenticity that just breaks the human heart.

Sir John Dee was born on July 13th, 1527 and died in 1609. He was primarily known during his life as an expert mathematician and geographer; however, he was also a scholar of the Occult, and an alchemist as well as the Court Astrologer to no less than Queen Elizabeth I.

The Virgin Queen most likely owes a great deal to Dee for helping her make important decisions that ultimately cemented her unique place in history as the greatest, most powerful queen since the Egyptian Hatshepsut.

To modern occultists, Dee’s primary legacy is his system of Enochian Magick, which he transcribed by using a Trance Medium (Edward Kelley) as a communicator between man and the Angels.

Happy Birthday Diana, the People’s Princess. I am honored to share the same day of your birth.

For those of you who are interested in the Astrology chart of Princess Diana, I will be posting it soon in the Astrology Section of my magickal forum.

A Personal Story: Six months after the death of the Princess, I wound up being flown to London to perform a Babalon Working with a magickal friend (all-expenses paid, who could resist?) As a result, I was able to take the opportunity to personally place a bouquet of one dozen yellow roses at the entrance of Highgate. I felt that I was meant to go there and pay hommage to Diana, one of my most favorite people on the planet.

I wish I could have gone to the concert given in Diana’s honour. I encourage all my readers to say a special prayer for the peace of her spirit. She truly was the apotheosis of the Goddess Diana, as far as I’m concerned.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is good for anything to do with Astrological 9th House concerns, such as Publishing, Travel, Communication, Higher Learning, Astral Travel, etc.

I hope you all have a great evening. I sure will! I’m going to perform my first Full Moon magickal ritual on the Moon roof at my new home, Tiphereth House.

Magickal Note: I wound up doing my Full Moon ritual in Larchmont with my magickal partner. We stood near the reflection of the Moon in a clear pool of water with the rays coming down.

Whenever I do a Moon Ritual, I always use my Black Scrying Mirror to capture the lunar light, building the charge so I can use the magickal charge in my Scrying work, whenever I want to converse with Spirits, Angels or other spiritual beings.

By the way, tonight’s Full Moon was supposed to be the biggest and brightest of the entire year, as the Moon was quite close to the Earth. Anyway, I’ll post some more info on Scrying Mirrors soon. At the time of his passing, I had only heard tales of his music and live performances from friends and clients. Oddly enough, time and again I went to record stores and wound up holding his CD in my hands, studying the covers — staring into his face. Still, each time I left the store without purchasing his music.

Once, after giving a Psychic Reading to Maynard James Keenan (the vocalist for the magickal music group Tool), he told me he was going to see Jeff play at the Troubador. I wanted to go, but for some reason, didn’t — much to my lasting regret.

Buckley Virgin: On June 4, 1997 I was at a KROQ concert with Nancy Berry (the former Vice-Chairman of Virgin Records) and several of her friends. A friend of Nancy’s, a singer named Christopher Shinn, offered to give me a ride to an after party at the Chateau Marmont, which I accepted.

On the drive back, Chris told me his favorite singer was Jeff Buckley. I felt at that point the Universe was definitely conspiring to get me to buy Buckley’s CD, and made a mental note to get it immediately, after Chris continued raving about it. In the car, Chris put on Jeff’s debut album, Grace, and played the track So Real. By the end of the song I was in tears, completely blown away by the sheer beauty of not only the music, but the power and sincerity of Jeff’s mighty, angelic voice. After the song was over, Chris said, “Yeah, it’s a real shame he’s gone.”

I couldn’t believe my ears. When I asked Chris what he meant, he explained that Jeff had mysteriously “disappeared”, and no one had seen him since he went swimming on the night of May 29th, (1997). I was devastated twice that night.

The next day I went out and bought a copy of Grace, and played nothing else (except for a little Satchel and Pigeonhed) for months. His music is that good.

Getting back to my story, 6 days after I first heard Jeff’s music, his lifeless body was found, floating on the banks of the Mississippi River, near Beale Street. The music world went into a period of mourning. Anybody who was familiar with his music was absolutely devastated by the news. The legend of Jeff Buckley was born.

There is much left to my story, but I’ll post the amazing details on my Magickal Forum as soon as I can.

John was a founding member of the remarkable musical group, Coil, with his life partner, Peter Christopherson. I’ve been an avid listener and fan since he first began putting out his music. During the 1980’s, we began a correspondence which lasted a few years.

John was an extraordinarily talented Magician who worked with soundwaves. We shared an insatiable interest in Magick and the works of such men as Aleister Crowley.

There are numerous methods for contacting the HGA, some of which involve years of Qabalistic study and occult scholarship, such as the famed ritual of the ancient Mage, Abramelin, which promises the Magician the “Knowledge and Conversation” of ones Holy Guardian Angel. This method necessitates the seeker isolate himself for a period of 6 months to one year, in constant prayer along with a series of prolonged and detailed rituals.

It stands to reason that most students of the Western Magickal tradition hardly have the time, nor funds to perform such a lengthy magickal operation. After all, us modern mystics have to hold down jobs and deal with the mundane necessities of the modern world. So what’s a fledgling Magician to do? I decided to offer a solution by sharing a simple, but effective Holy Guardian Angel Ritual!

I created this ritual as an alternative to using the techniques of the respected traditions of Enochian and Planetary Magick, which are fine, but over the heads of even some practiced Magicians. Also, the angels of those particular systems belong to no single individual, and usually communicate in occult generalities.

For most seekers, the most important point is the desire of the Magician to meet and converse with his Angel. Of course, anybody can talk to their Angel; however, the difficulty lies in not only learning to contact ones Angel, but developing the psychic faculty to both hear and understand the information ones Angel imparts in response.

Imagine your Angel as a kind of “Celestial 411 Operator” whose job it is to ensure you have access to important information during all those crucial moments in your life. You can call the magick number “411″, and connect with your Angel, but what good is it going to do you to ask for information, if you can’t even understand the language your Angel is speaking?

It is precisely at the beginning stages of a Magician’s career, that the realization occurs that s/he has not yet developed the intuitive and/or psychic faculties to the point of being able to translate the information given to them by higher intelligences, such as Angels and other divine entities. The Angelic language is beyond mere human understanding.

Therefore the ability to read and understand abstract symbols becomes necessary, in order to make sense of the information gained by such Angelic contact. The great Magus, Aleister Crowley therefore advised initiates to study the Qabalah, and ancient Book of Thoth (aka The Tarot), in order to give the student a system of effective psychic translation.

Both the respected magickal methods of Abramelin, as well as the Enochian Angelic Magick of Sir John Dee, are very involved and necessitate years of devotion and study in order to be mastered. Still, budding Magicians need a simple method that will allow them direct proof of successful access to their Angels.

This is why I’ve decided to share my ritual with beginning magicians. The simplified Holy Guardian Angel Ritual will enable the student to not only contact his/her Angel, but to also perform a basic translation of the information received.

My method incorporates elements of Clairaudience, and aspects of Automatic Writing, but is perfectly safe even for the most inexperienced practitioner. It is also able to be used by anyone of any faith, (including Agnostics, and Atheists, and even worshippers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster lol!)
