Full Moon in Pisces: August 2018

August 26th, 2018 by Voxx

Full Moon in PiscesThe Full Moon in Pisces will happen this morning at 4:56am (PDT). This is a powerful, spiritual time — as it is the final Full Moon of the Astrological Year. As such, it is a time of emotional endings. Events have hit their peak, and now presage the final months of the Solar Year.

Take a look at your life. What have you accomplished so far this year? How much remains to be completed? It’s a great time to re-evaluate your plans, and if you don’t have a plan you must be a Pisces yourself!

The Full Moon represents the end of a cycle. As such, people tend to get very emotional at this time. When this cycle ends in such an emotionally deep sign as Pisces, it can lead to all kinds of breakdowns and tendency toward excess. Even the planet! The torrential rains in Hawaii are a good example. The uncontained wildfires. The rampant news of blatant disregard for others, (including animals) is rife in the news.

At this time, there will also be a great deal of news regarding the deaths of icons, and important leaders. It’s like that verse in the Bible (Ecclesiastes 3:2)… “A time to be born, a time to die…” It’s the turn of a great wheel, and we simply have to get on with the important matters at hand.

The Full Moon in Pisces can also trigger deep emotional states, and lead to extremely erratic behavior. Pisces is the Zodiacal ruler of the 12th House of Karma, Hospitals, End of Life and Self-Undoing. It’s definitely important to take your medication if you suffer from mental illness. If you suffer from depression, it’s important for you to seek proper counseling at this time. Please seek a mental health professional, and reach out — it can save your life!

“The Moon” (Thoth Tarot c OTO)We may not like it, but it’s all a part of Life. Whatever you do, please face what’s in front of you, and be grateful that you have a choice as to how to perceive and react to whatever is going on in your life right now. Don’t drown yourself in alcohol or drugs (a very Piscean tendency, by the way).

Allow yourself to feel things deeply. Treasure the experience of being alive. If you have to cry, go ahead. Pisces is a water sign, after all. Start a dream journal, and start taking stock of the information your subconscious mind is trying to reveal to you.

Other things you can do now for healing are to do a Past-Life Regression, Aromatherapy, Yoga, Massage. Get it all out. Relax. Reconnect to your emotions — to your family, loved ones, pets. Get out in nature if possible, near lakes and clear water. Clear your mind.

If you tune into your deepest self right now, you can inspire yourself to plan the next episode of your life. It’s up to you.

Blessings to all,
~V~

H.P. Lovecraft: An Infernal Birthday

August 20th, 2018 by Voxx

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (Art Copyright by Tim Shay)Celebrating the 127th birthday of the incomparable horror fantasy writer, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, more commonly known as H.P. Lovecraft.

An admirer of Edgar Allan Poe, Lovecraft spent countless childhood hours reading his books, due to tragic situations regarding both his parents, who were both committed (at different times) to insane asylums in Providence, Rhode Island.

Other than reading and writing horror fiction, Lovecraft was fascinated with Astronomy; However, he was unable to finish his schooling due to a nervous breakdown he suffered before his high school graduation.

Lovecraft lived a solitary life, and rarely ventured outside his home. Despite this, he had a large number of literary friends and admirers, and wound up writing close to 100,000 letters to them throughout his relatively short life.

Of all his works, he is most known for his “Cthulhu Mythos”, a series of stories regarding an ancient chthonic water deity. So fascinating was the first story he wrote about the creature, that his admirers started adding their own versions and continuations through the years.

Some of his friends, admirers and students include some of the greatest writers of the last century, including Robert Bloch (writer of the classic, “Psycho”), and Robert E. Howard (“Conan the Barbarian”), and fantasy writer and poet, Clark Ashton Smith.

Although Lovecraft has inspired many modern films, I personally feel that none have really done his work justice, as his tales are so filled with subjective horror, they really can’t be put to film.

The following links will take you to free versions of several of my personal favorites:

“The Call of Cthulhu”, (the story that started it all.)

“The Shadow Out of Time”, (this one will seriously blow your mind.)

“The Dreams in the Witch House”, (incredibly horrifying!)

“At the Mountains of Madness”, (John Carpenter’s film, “The Thing”, was inspired by this story.

— and Lovecraft’s epic masterpiece …

“The Case of Charles Dexter Ward”

If you’ve never heard of Lovecraft, I encourage you to read his works, and discover his dark genius for yourself. Below is a link to more information about him, and his writings.

Oh, and when you’re reading his stories, it might be best to leave the lights on… not that it will help.
