Farrah Fawcett: Love Story 2009

June 27th, 2009 by Voxx

Farrah Fawcett died Thursday, June 25th, 2009.  Her impending death from cancer was expected, but still brought an outpouring of sadness at her passing. What came as a greater surprise to most of us, is the largely unexpected death of Michael Jackson, on the same day, no less!  (Although Astrologers, Psychics and those in the know, had expected a tragic ending for poor MJ).

That being said, I’ve thought about the irony of Ryan O’Neal’s part in Farrah’s life. As many people remember, Ryan played the role of “Ollie”, in the film “Love Story”, which was about a young man who loses his wife to cancer, shortly after their marriage. It was this idea that led me to create the image accompanying this post.

Although Farrah and Ryan never legally married one another, they had a long-lasting relationship, and one son together, the troubled Redmond.

Farrah had a checkered career, becoming more respected as an actress in the latter part of her career; However, her greatest fame came within the last three years of her life, as she battled a vicious form of cancer.  During her illness, Farrah documented her life on film, culminating in a fascinating, yet heartbreaking, testimony of her struggle in the face of death.

Again, there is irony in the fact that Farrah came to prominence in the role of an “Angel”, on the hit show, “Charlie’s Angels”, thus we have always known her as an angel.  Now, I have every reason to believe she has turned into a real one.  Thanks Farrah for your final role as a teacher, and guide — walking us through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, with grace and dignity. You will be missed.

Isidore Lucien Ducasse: In Memoriam of Maldoror

April 5th, 2009 by Voxx

In Memoriam: The Father of Surrealism.

Today, I’m celebrating the birth of my favorite poet, Isidore Lucien Ducasse, more famously known as, Le Comte de Lautréamont. During his life, he completed writing only one complete book, but oh what a book it was!

Entitled “Les Chants de Maldoror”, (The Song of Maldoror) is one of the most mind-boggling, verbal hallucination ever written. If you have never read “Maldoror” (as it is often referred to), I suggest buying a copy today, in his honor. (Just scroll down this page, and you’ll see a link to buy the book from “My Book Club” on the right-side column).

For lovers of great surrealist poetry, take a minute to read a sample of this great artist’s work.

You can also read my special page, dedicated to Le Comte de Lautréamont, complete with an assortment of valuable links.

Let me know your thoughts upon reading this truly important, and startlingly original poet’s work. I’m sure that once you read his story, (and his poetry), you will reserve a special place in your library for the late, great Isidore.

Visit Le Comte de Lautréamont on Myspace.

Amithaba Buddha: Birthday Greetings

May 25th, 2007 by Voxx

amithaba_buddha.jpgIn honor of one of the great world teachers, I’d like to share some info with you regarding Amithaba Buddha (also known as Amitayus). Amithaba is a form of the Buddha which is the considered the main Bodhisattva form, and equates with the element of Fire, and the Lotos (Nectar-Vase) family.

The greater number of mandalas use the color red to symbolize the element of fire, which is represents the Western region of the Universe, and also uses the Lotus (or nectar vase) as it’s symbol. The lotos itself symbolizes pure intentions in all activities. The nectar vase, (filled with subtle life-energy/nectar) symbolizes the immense power of the element of Fire.

According to popular belief, the life-extending energy and the possibility to gain rebirth on a lotus flower in one of his beautiful western paradises, Amithaba is considered the most popular Buddha in all of Asia.

There are countless forms of worship dedicated to Amithaba/Amitayus. In Japan, Amithaba is associated with the Sun, and so is honored with special ceremonies at sunrise and sundown.

Aspects of his many peaceful and wrathful aspects (some of which are extremely popular), are Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara) whose mantra is the most well-known as Om Mani Padme Hum. The Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama are both considered personifications (emanations) of Amithaba. In particular, the Dalai Lama is considered a form-emanation of Chenrezig. The Panchen Lama is considered to be a form-emanation of Amithaba/Amitayus.

According to Western metaphysical traditions, the Fire element is associated with the Zodiacal signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Take time to do a small meditation today upon the idea of Buddha, and his teachings.

Robert Anton Wilson: Prometheus Rising, 2007

January 12th, 2007 by Voxx

rawbabalon 1“Nothing is true. All is permitted.” _ Hasan i Sabbah

Robert Anton Wilson left his earthly vehicle for a late-model astral body, leaving the chaotic shores of Gaia for possibly the last time at 4:50 am (PST), on Thursday, January 11, 2007, with the Moon at 29 Degrees Libra.

According to a news source, Robert had been in ill health for the past several years. He suffered from the effects of post-polio syndrome which had severely damaged his legs and weakened his body. After a serious fall in June 2006, Robert was unable to walk, and confined to bed. Many of his closest family, friends and fans rallied around the author during his last several months to support him emotionally and even financially, for which Wilson was truly grateful.

Wilson, or RAW as he was popularly known, was a prolific author, penning a wide range of fascinating work during his long, and eventful life. Among his works left behind, are novels and essays.

In addition to being a celebrated author, he was also a philosopher, psychologist, futurist, anarchist, and conspiracy theorist.

bobcrowleyA small selection of Wilson’s best-known works include such popular books as:

  • The Illuminatus! Trilogy (1975) including the following:
  • (The Eye in the Pyramid)
  • (The Golden Apple)
  • (Leviathan)
  • The Cosmic Trigger I: Final Secret of the Illuminati (1977)
  • Schrodinger’s Cat (Trilogy, 1980-1981)
  • Masks of the Illuminati (1981)
  • The Historical Illuminatus Chronicles (1982-1991)
  • Prometheus Rising (1983, revised 1987), and
  • Quantum Psychology (1990)

He was also friends with the late Timothy Leary, with whom he collaborated on two books, Neuropolitics and The Game of Life.

I had the personal good fortune to meet Robert several times over the last several years. Here I go, taking an acid trip down memory lane …
